Caffè Vergnano is the oldest family owned and operated coffee business in the world.


Èspresso 1882 is Caffè Vergnano's most recent revolutionary project that marks the introduction of fully biodegradable capsules compatible with the Èspresso1882 TRÈ coffee machine and with Nespresso® machines.


We’re based in Italy, just outside of Turin, but our products can be enjoyed by coffee lovers the world over in more than 70 countries. Now we’re very excited to be in Australia and serve you from our headquarters in Brisbane.

A success made in Italy

1882

THE STORY BEGINS

1882 was a good year. Richard Wagner completed his opera "Parsifal", 1st Dutch female physician Aletta Jacobs opened her office and Domenico Vergnano, the great founder of Caffè Vergnano opened his first coffee store in Chieri in Italy. Those were the humble beginnings of what is now the oldest family owned and operated coffee brewing business.


What started as a small apothecary in Chieri, a small town at the foot of Turin hills is now the oldest family owned coffee roasting company in the World with almost 140 years old story and handed down by four generations.

A success made in Italy

The company that prides itself on almost 140 years of undivided focus on constant improvement and innovation in the coffee industry started as the apothecary which in 1910 was transformed into a coffee store by Domenico Vergnano who seized all the secrets of roasting and selling coffee. The business grew so exponentially that it needs more space.

Meeting the demands

EXPANDING

Caffè Vergnano opens stores in Turin and Alba. The activity of Domenico Vergnano continues to expand: after opening the first store in Chieri, he opens one in Turin and Alba, and purchases a coffee plantation in Kenya.

MEETING THE DEMANDS

Caffè Vergnano moves to the new establishment of Santena. To meet the demands of the growing business the Vergnano family builds a new plant. Caffè Vergnano establishes itself as one of the most prestigious Italian roasters.

In 1982 Caffè Vergnano marks its 100 anniversary. After the first century of successes marked with coffee, the family Vergnano continues to expand its activities thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of Franco and Carlo, heirs of Domenico's passion for quality coffee.

GOING ABROAD

Caffè Vergnano secures further expansion, arriving to foreign markets all over the world. The fourth generation joins the company in the nineties and introduces the Vergnano branded products to foreign markets.

CAFFÈ VERGNANO REINTERPRETS THE TRADITION
OF ESPRESSO COFFEE

THE ORIGINS OF OUR COFFEE.

Caffè Vergnano has been selecting for over 130 years the best coffee origins, directly at the production places.

TRADITIONAL SLOW TOASTING.

The raw coffee beans are processed with the traditional slow roasting method in order to extract the maximum aroma from each one.

THE AD HOC GRINDING.

For the Èspresso1882 capsules Caffè Vergnano has developed an ad hoc grinding, perfect for the extraction with capsules coffee machines.

WRAPPED ONE BY ONE FOR THE MAXIMUM AROMA.

The capsules are transparent and wrapped one by one to anticipate through sight and smell the experience of an excellent espresso.

A COMPACT CREAM, WITHOUT BUBBLES, EXACTLY LIKE AT THE BAR.

The water emulsifies the coffee mixture and, thanks to the pressure, exits through the flaps on the rear of the capsule.
This process allows an optimal extraction of the coffee. No part of the machine comes into direct contact with the capsule.

OUR CAPSULES

The ad hoc grinding method is perfect for the extraction of what is best in coffee. The product of the process is then locked safely in biodegradable capsules.
They are transparent and wrapped carefully one by one. This allows you to anticipate through sight and smell the experience of an excellent espresso.

All the capsules are compatible with the Èspresso1882 Trè coffee machines and with the Citiz, Pixie, Essenza, Lattissima, U and Maestria coffee machines for domestic use of the Nespresso®* brand.
Each capsule is fully biodegradable.
The coffee mixture emulsified by water that, thanks to the pressure, exits through the flaps on the rear of the capsule.
The individually slow roasted origins are eventually blended to guarantee the same quality in every cup, every time you want to taste your espresso.
The precise process of selecting blends and slow roasting methods allows the perfect cup every time. The naturally formed crema tops the experience.
